'Mission Phosphorus is an educational and fun mobile app for dialysis patients seeking information on Chronic Renal Failure (CRF), and more specifically on their treatment and dietary management.
The challenge: to launch a phosphate binder to remove as much excess phosphorus icons before their absorption in the intestine. For a balanced diet, you must also assimilate proteins, lipids and sugars by grouping them into groups of at least three balls of the same color. After each session, a quiz to earn bonus points. The pace of the game quickens each time at a higher level.
The game includes 16 levels associated with different meals. These meals have increasing amounts of phosphorus.
A published evaluation of Phosphorus Mission showed dramatic increases in patient knowledge about CKD (Kato & Hill, 2015).
