A view of a virtual patient before going under the microscope. Computer–based simulation technology has been used in medical training since more than a decade. But these tools often lacked the ability to encourage decision making skill in its users which is crucial during surgical training. The AI-SICS is different from most of the computer based SICS (small incision manual cataract surgery) training systems as it offers a self-guided, self-correcting training that requires trainees to make decisions based on realistic surgical situations. The training content can be accessed from any personal computer, laptops, most mobile devices and web browsers and contains photo realistic simulations along with help videos of actual surgeries. The interactive program includes various surgical steps with instant feedback system. The user is free to make a serious error and learn how to fix it using the tools available and be trained on how to avoid making the same mistake again.
