Akiyama Jin no Sūgaku Mystery: Hihō "Indo no Honoo" o Shishu Seyo A cross between Japanese-style adventure and educational game dedicated to mathematics, S?gaku Mystery ("Mathematical Mystery") stars a real-world person, the renowned Japanese mathematician Jin Akiyama.

The game has two gameplay modes, called "Gameplay" and "Mathematics". The "gameplay" mode is a traditional story-driven Japanese adventure, done in characteristic anime style, with cut scenes and voice acting. The protagonist is the cartoon reincarnation of Dr. Akiyama (usually referred to as simply "Doc" in the game), who has to solve various mathematical problems in order to get to the bottom of the mystery that involves a giant precious stone known as "The Indian Flame". Interaction with the environment is performed in the standard Japanese adventure style, with the omnipresent commands "Look", "Talk", and "Think" with accompanying sub-menus of objects appearing at every screen.

The "mathematics" mode is a collection of all the mathematical problems the player has to solve in the "gameplay" mode, accessible directly from the main menu, without the need to play through the story. The player can view hints or try to solve the problems entirely on his/her own. [source:mobygames]
