AstroEngineer: Moon Rover™ is designed to teach middle school students about science, technology, engineering, and math topics. The year is 2040 and mankind has established several bases on or orbiting the lunar surface that work together to gather resources, explore, and develop a base of operations for future missions to other planetary bodies in our solar system. AstroEngineer: Moon Rover has been designed to help middle school students learn how to apply the engineering design process and develop and test solutions to problems when limited by certain criteria and constraints. The game play is centered on ITEA STEM standards and includes additional information about the lunar surface environment and the limits it places on human exploration. In the game players are assigned missions by the base commander. They design rovers choosing from different types of rover sensors, engines, bodies, power sources, and tires. They can also customize the rover with different colors, stripes and other personalization features. Once the rover is designed, they use it to try and accomplish the mission. If they fail, they redesign and try again.
