EcoRescue: Project Rainforest is a straightforward hidden object game with a conservationist theme. Most of the time, the objective is to find and collect all the trash to clean forests and other places around the globe. The required garbage items are listed on a strap at the bottom of the screen, also featuring a compass at the left side. The instrument is the hint button, showing the exact position of one of the required objects, but taking some time to recharge after use.
Three standard variations of gameplay are included: a jigsaw puzzle, a special scenario where the goal is to find several instances of the same object or animal, and the split screen with two similar images where the player must search and click on all the differences. Educational texts about ecology are displayed between each chapter, with assorted trivia about the current state of the wildlife habitat on a region of the world.
